Such A great (and healthy) weekend

I'm so excited to be back after an amazing weekend visiting great family and friends. I had a christening and I was the God Mother :) Sooo of course there was TONS of food- but I'm proud to say that I did a great job of avoiding the unhealthy stuff! I stuck with the mayo-less salads, and went for the vinegar based cucumber and greenbean salad! I also had only 1/2 a cookie during the party and 1/2 a sausage from the sausage and peppers. I was so proud. So far today, I've had a hardroll with a little butter on it- not my first chioce, but there wasn't much else at the airport, unfortunately.

I think when I travel from now on, I'm going to pack food- it was tough to find healthy things at the airport. Although, the Wendy's salad was pretty good (didn't even finish all of it!) PS- I Really really wanted a frosty, and said that if I was still hungry after the salad, I would go back and get it. Thankfully, the Healthy Trim kept me full enough to where I didn't crave it! Thanks Healthy Trim! So many fewer desserts and bad food because of you!

Happy Monday!

How is everyone feeling this week!?

I'm a bit depressed to get back to work after an awesome weekend visiting family!

Some of them mentioned that I looked great and that they thought I was losing weight- GO ME! I hope you all had a great weekend!

Anyone setting weekly goals this week? Mine: Work out twice! We'll see how it goes! You guys better hold me to it!

F2L: Peaches are in season!

Are you looking for another fun dessert? How about a tasty alternative to that sugar and calorie full peach cobbler.

With Healthy Trim, I find that I have to select what I'm going to indulge on (and it's ok to indulge every once in a while) But when I found this recipe, I also found out that it's not indulging! Woo Hoo! So with my low cal high protien dinner, I get to enjoy this new savory dessert! And, I love peaches in anything, so that might be the best part!

Grilled Peach al a frozen yogurt
If you cut a peach in half, and brush it with vegetable oil, grill it up (on high) and it's done when fork tender. Take it off and add 1 scoop of vanilla frozen yogurt and sprinkle a little bit of coconut! YUMMY

Best Part: Under 150 calories!

Does anyone else have any healthy fruit dessert recipes!

Food 2 Love: 100 Calorie Kudos Bars

I've officially added them to my lunch box! They're awesome!

They have: m&m, snickers and chocolate chip!

What fun stuff! And only 100 calories- takes away any sweet craving!

Daily Diet

Well- I'm visiting family this weekend, so this always makes it tough. Today I woke up and my WONDERFUL mother in law had cooked breakfast, eggs, bacon, crumb cake... all delicious and oh so tempting! So here's what I did:

-An eggs worth of scrambled eggs
-One strip of bacon (SO TEMPTING)
-A handful of Grapes
-A few pieces of grapefruit (Just found this bulk container- might have to add this to my food to love section!)
-and 1/4 cup of coffee (because my mother in law got me my favorite flavor creamer, just for me, couldn't turn it down)
-SMALL piece of steak
-Salad

It seems like alot when I type it out- I'll have to pass on even more tomorrow! How did everyone else do today?

Setting Goals

Many of you that have either e-mailed me or left comments here on the blog have told me what your overall goal is, and they're great! I hope that every single one of you accomplishes your goals!

I'm not sure about any of you, but I am one of those people that easily gets discouraged, especially when it comes to weight loss! So here's what I've done. I've set short term goals. My total goal is 88 lbs. I'm very passionate about that number! BUT- I know that it's not realistic for this month, and probably not even this calendar year. So I set up mid-way goals for 1 month out, for new years day, and for a year from the start of all this! I've made my 1 month goal, so I ordered another bottle of Healthy Trim! As long as it's working, I'll keep using it!

Goal 1: 20lbs in first month! (I took 1 week off for vacation)
Goal 2: 50lbs total loss by New Years day (Ouch- gotta watch out for Christmas Calories)
Goal 3: 88lbs total loss by July of next year

Follow the blog to find out if it all works!

Also- Share your goals! I'd love to hear them, as would everyone else!

Question from Reader:

Q: I would like to know what is in it exactly because sometimes even natural ingredients mixed with certain prescription meds can be dangerous--and I am on a few maintenance meds. Would you mind posting the ingredients?

A: Great Question! Thanks for asking! I am not a health care professional, so I can't tell you how Healthy Trim will react with your current meds, I did ask my doctor before starting (Because I'm on currently on a maintenance med) So thanks for asking!

Here's what's coming straight from the bottle: All Pharmaceutical Grade
Green Tea Leaf Extract (standardized for epigallocateching gallate), Hoodia Gordonii Stem, Caralluma Gibriata Stem extract, (Amylum, Coix, seed, Poria Cocus, Cassia seed, Lotus leaf, water plantain rhizome, cumquat, mulerry leaf, methionine), garcinia cambogia fruit extract (standardized for (-) hydroxycitricacid), Gymnema Sylvestre Leaf extract (standardized for 50% resveratrol) (polygonum cuspidatum) (fruit), Eleutherococcus Senticocus root, L-theanine, Pyruvate Bioperine, (standartized for black pepper extract) (piper longum) (fruit), Banaba leaf extract (stanndardized for corosolic acid), 72 Trace minerals

Hope this helps!

Portion Size

One of the biggest helpers to my weight gain was portion size. I could go to a chain restaurant and eat the entire plate and still be helping myself to more bread, or dessert, or a bite off of my husband's plate! Since being on Healthy Trim, I've used a few tricks to get past the huge portions!

1. PUT IT AWAY! I used to prepare dinner, leave it on the stove while I ate my first serving, then I would go back for another serving. Pretty soon, there were no leftovers. So now, my way of fixing this is to take that second portion and put it in tupperware, it makes 2 great lunches for my husband and I later in the week. The Healthy Trim keeps me from feeling like I need more, and not seeing it, makes it much easier!
2. PACK IT UP! When we go out to eat, I always ask for a to-go box with my meal, I take 2/3 of it and put it away. It's not good for me to eat it all, I know that. I also know that I don't need to eat it all to make my body feel full, so I pack it up. It's much more difficult to eat (because I get embarassed really easily thinking people are looking at me saying- chubby girl has no self control) So it's away, and it's lunch!
3. Stock the fridge with smaller quantities! It was so easy to go and get an ice cream with 4 scoops, chocolate chips, sprinkles, etc. Now, I have 100 calorie ice cream bars that do the trick, that feel better about eating, and that keep me "full" I also buy 1/2 bags of popcorn for snacks, instead of the huge bag (That I was once able to eat on my own)
4. Out to lunch- Only order the lunch portion! I used to go to restaurants and order lunch- but the things I would order would only come in dinner portions, bummer? NO! I would eat it all- gross. I would also feel like crap the rest of the afternoon, lose/lose situation there! So now, even if I'm at dinner, I try to order the lunch portion if I can!

Do you have any tips or tricks you'd like to share? I'd love to hear them- I'm always looking for new ideas!

How much do I need to eat

When on a diet, it's important to eat at least what your body needs to keep running, otherwise you'll get tired and you may end up overeating (bad foods) to compensate.

Here's what we need to think about:

655+(4.3 x weight in lbs) + (4.7 x inches in height) + (4.7 x age)

So for me, that's around 1800 Calories. I want to lose a little bit more, so I'm ok giving my body between 1500-1700 caloriees a day. Otherwise I'll be hungrier the next day and be tempted to binge eat!

So on a daily diet I'll have:
1) A million glasses of water
2) 1/2 a sandwich
3) 100 Calories of Yogurt
4) 125 Calories of Granola
5) A Piece of Fruit
6) A sweet fix of 100 calorie pack of sorts

That keeps me under 500 for lunch, then I have a bit more for dinner!

New Followers!

Welcome to the new followers! Do you have any specific questions you'd like to ask? Is there anything you'd like me to cover more of? Are there any topics you enjoy hearing about?

Thank you for joining me on my journey!

Here I go again!

Well, I've started the second run of Healthy Trim this morning. I'm going to try what a reader suggested with 2 capsules of Healthy Trim in the AM, and 1 at lunch time.

I had the 2 this morning, accompanied by a HUGE bottle of water:) And that seemed to keep me full until lunch time. Chinese food- 2 pieces of chicken, a fork full of rice, a fortune cookie and that was about it:)

I'll be traveling tonight- so let's see how I can do with airport food! Any suggestions? Maybe I'll try for a salad or something light like that!

So I tried to stop for a week...

As many of you know, the economy sucks. Well I was trying to be a little money saver and cut back on costs. So I tried a week of no Healthy Trim to see if I could still lose weight. Here's what I found:

1. I was back to snacking- unhelathy snacks.
2. I was getting hungry by 9:30am.
3. I needed more food to not feel hungry.
4. I had a lot of cravings
5. I wanted soda with meals

So here's what I did: I ORDERED ANOTHER BOTTLE OF HEALTHY TRIM! I can't wait til it gets here so I'm back on the weight loss kick!

Daily Diet Goals!

Well I know that I'm on Healthy Trim, and that I'm trying to lose weight in a healthy way. I also know that I want to keep it off long term and turn this experience into a way of life rather than a short term fix... so here I am.

I've been setting daily diet goals, and I think it's important for anyone on a diet. So you should set (**Realistic**) goals of your own. If you have questions as to why I set mine in specific ways, I'd be happy to answer them for you!

Goals:
1. Under 1200 Calories a Day- Why: I've looked at many calculators online, and averaging all their advice, this is a round number a little less than they suggest- because I have lofty goals!
2. Eat fewer sweets- as I'm sure you've noticed from the blog, I LOVE SWEETS- So I'm having 100 calories of sweets a day!
3. Increase my protein 1.5 fold. Why? because the Healthy Trim bottle says to, but also because I know it will give me the energy I need.
4. Only have carbs in my afternoon meal. Carbs take a lot of energy to burn, and I know that I'm not very active after dinner, so I'm going to see if this helps as well! (This excludes my 100 calorie dessert of course!) I'm talking more like potatoes, rice, etc.
5. More fresh fruit and veggies-We've recently been using frozen veggies and fruit that is pre-packaged, so now I think my husband will kill me because we'll spend more on this plan. We'll see I guess!

I'll keep you updated!

Oh No! Where did I go?

Sorry everyone- I wasn't sure if there was anyone out there following my blog! But YES, I am still here:)

To give you an update- last week was pretty emotional for me. I have two close friends getting divorced, and it hit me very hard- I stopped eating healthier, and felt sick! I was still taking Healthy Trim, but when you over eat on it, you feel even worse than you normally would. Make sure you're being smart when you're taking it!

On the gym note: I've been going more- it feels great to get that energy out! I mix the cardio and the weight training, and it feels good, and makes me feel good about myself:)

If you're looking for a weight update: I'm ashamed to say I'm only down to 121. It's unfortunate that I couldn't lose more, but the emotion of last week really hit me hard!

Food to LOVE!

Ok, so everyone knows: Cravings are real, especially for women during that time of the month! No amount of Healthy Trim will overcome estrogen! So I make my body happy, while sticking to a low cal diet!

My current Craving Crusher: 100 Calorie Klondike Bars! They are SO yummy! One is totally enough, and they even have a toffee cruch! They're so great that I even catch my husband snackinig on them!

Try them out!

A bit more about me

I think that diets are different for everyone. I have tried the Atkins, South Beach, Heavy work out, low fat, etc. Nothing has worked thus far. I typically end up weighing more afterwards! My reasoning: On specialty diets, you can eat as much fatty, calorie free foods as you want, just make sure there are no carbs. Sure- it's easy, but once you're off, you still have the mentality that you can just eat and eat and eat. That's what messes me up!

So with this diet, I hope that it curbs my apetite enough to limit what I want to eat in the future:)

So what led to such bad habbits: my driver's license. I think that as soon as I was able to drive myself around, I wasn't able to make good decisions and would end up at McDonald's and Wendy's and Dunkin Donuts. So a secondary goal on this diet is to comepletely cut out those fast food chains. I'll let you know how it goes!

Question From Reader:

As I mentioned, I would honestly answer any questions that readers might have. So here's the first one!

Q. How easy is it to fall asleep at night while taking Healthy Trim? Do you find yourself restless?

A. To be honest, I've noticed that it takes a bit more time to fall asleep while taking the Healthy Trim. I try not to take the second capsule after 12, because otherwise it's 11 or 12 before I fall asleep. It hasn't caused me to wake up in the middle of the night, but I have noticed that I am a bit more restless after the first alarm goes off. I used to be able to fall right back asleep, not so much anymore- but who knows, that could be the stress of work as well.

Great question! Thanks for asking.

Remember, if you have a question feel free to e-mail it to girlonhealthytrim@gmail.com I'll be answering them as they come in!

The Weekend...

As I get ready to start another week on Healthy Trim, I'm still SORE! We went to the gym on Saturday for a class that usually kicks my butt. This time, it especially did!

It was a great weekend menu: Scrambled eggs, 1/2 turkey sandwich, buffalo chicken sandwich with FRENCH FRIES (mmm), pork chops, garlic green beans, rosemary potatoes, and a few yogurts along the way.

I feel pretty healthy this morning. I think the amount of water intake is really making a difference! I can't wait to see the # on the scale this week! Wish me luck for the week!

Yesterday:

Boy oh Boy! It was quite the interesting day! Normal lunch and such, but I went to an event tasting at a Tapas Restaurant, and was able to really enjoy a little bit of everything without over eating! I wasn't hungry, so I just ate for taste and to enjoy the food, great experience all around!

We had a little bit of calamari (with a spicy Asian mustard sauce), Flank steak with an arugula salad, a fresh mozzarella flatbread, hummus, crab and avacado salad, and a cheese plate. All were very yummy. I even had a little bit of dessert. I wish I could have had more, but luckily, the Healthy Trim made me feel JUST full enough to not take a few last bites!

What's on the plan for today: THE GYM. I'm starting to include that into the schedule. Yes, I'm losing the weight- but I want to make sure there's muscle under there!

Food to LOVE...while you're on a diet

Healthy Trim has afforded me the opportunity to make smarter decisions with what I eat. Lunckily, thanks to Healthy Trim, I've been able to lose weight thus far, and continue to do so.

So on this week's edition of F2L, I'm sharing one of my all time favorites: Yogurt.

Reasons it's good for you:
1. Calcium: Surprisingly, you get more from yogurt than you would from a glass of milk. Ladies, this is especially important for us in the earlier years- preventing osteoperosis! Woo Hoo-
2. Potassium: I can't stand bananas, so this is a great way to keep the muscle aches away!
3. Protein: It's got just as much as scrambled eggs, but without the cholesterol
4. Bacteria: Helps with digestion and keeps things "regular" if you will.

Ways to make it yummy:
1. Add fresh fruit: I love adding peach chunks, strawberries, and at times put a little on an apple.
2. Granola: I personally don't like rasins, but you can get granola with almost any type of nuts and with or without rasins, add a fews tbs and you've got a crunchy snack.
3. Nuts: I like adding grape nuts, but I know plenty of people that also include almonds and more.

So I've got quite the sweet tooth, and usually crave something sweet after dinner. Not so much now that I'm taking the Healthy Trim, but some none the less. So I reach for a yogurt, 100calories and just enough to make me happy. There are a few fun flavors out right now and they're my new favorites: Pineapple Upside Down Cake, Orange Creamsicle, Keylime Pie, Chocolate Mouse, and more! I also love the Whipped variety that Yoplait has!

Another quick update!!

It has been a great week so far. Monday I had a great salad for dinner, and we've been doing a lot of fresh veggies and chicken.

I also enjoyed a yogurt with granola for lunch. I've also been snacking on some new great things that I'm going to share in my next "Food to LOVE... while on a diet" post! I'm adding that to my weekly blogging schedule!

I'll be updating on weight later this week... and I can't wait! I'm super excited to share the new # on the scale.

I cheated on lunch Tuesday with pasta- I swear my body aches for it every once in a while- What does your body ache for?

Weigh in!!!

Well I weighed myself (after a HUGE meal on Friday in celebration of my Anniversary- think pasta, wine, dessert...)

227!!

Total loss: 11lbs
